Technical Tip: Take a configuration backup in FortiSASE with a browser plugin

Description	This article describes how to leverage a Chrome browser plugin to take a backup in FortiSASE. Currently, there is no option available to take a backup from the portal itself.
Scope	FortiSASE.
Solution	There is no option to take a backup directly from the FortiSASE portal as of the time this article was written. However, a Google Chrome Extension can be leveraged to collect several other pieces of information at once, including the backup configuration. This Google Chrome extension is called 'FortiGate Support Tool' and it is publicly available on the Google Chrome Web Store. Download the FortiGate Support Tool - Google Chrome Extension. Select the extension and select the New Capture button. After selecting the 'start capture' button, the user will be navigated to the capture options, where the file can be renamed and the option to 'Include Device Configuration' is displayed. After commencing capture, an option is provided to select the Window where the FortiSASE portal is open. After selecting Share, the recording will start as shown: After running this for a few seconds, stop the process. This will automatically save the capture file in the browser download folder. Now, select the FortiGate Support Tool again and select View Existing Capture. Now, select 'Choose capture file' and choose the saved file from Step 6. This will display the captured file as below. Select Capture summary -> Device info. The Device info will display the complete configuration/backup file. Selecting 'Download File' will trigger the download.
