Description

This article explains that when collecting a traffic capture for FortiVoice, IP addresses are the same as the destination IP address in SIP headers TO and FROM.

Scope

FortiVoice.

Solution

FortiVoice is by default using the destination IP address in both To and From because its IP is already defined on the Via header and contact.

This behavior is not affecting the SIP communication with most third parties and of course Fortinet phones and softclients.

But there are some third-parties like Mitel that sometimes cannot understand this.

So regarding changing this behavior and making FVE send its IP address in the TO field, this can be applied only in SIP trunks, follow the below:

  • Go to Trunk -> VOIP.
  • Select the trunk with Mitel or third-party SIP server, then select 'Edit'.
  • In the field 'Realm/Domain': write Fortivoice IP address. Then save.
