Description This article describes how to monitor the throughput of the ISP links
Scope

FortiADC v7.0.x and beyond.

There is no need to have 2 or more ISPs to configure link-load-balance.
It can be configured with just 1 ISP and monitor the bandwidth usage of it.

Solution

The FortiADC Dashboard does not have any Widget that allows easy visibility of the bandwidth of interfaces.
But it was the section:  FortiView -> ALL SEGMENTS -> Interfaces.

In this section, it is possible to choose the interface, and it will be displayed the usage of it. It can be displayed with:

  • Bits per Second.
  • Packets per Second.
  • Error Packet per Second.
  • Dropped Packet per Second.

However, there is a way to see the throughput of the ISP links using the feature link-load-balance.

Topology:

LAN    ===> FADC ===>  ISP-1

  1.  Configure the network interfaces associated with the ISPs:

  1. From Link Group -> Gateway, configure the gateway-address associated with the ISP.

Optionally it is possible to set a health check to monitor the availability of the gateway and to set the Inbound/Outbound bandwidth (Kbps) as well as the Spillover.

  1. From Link Group -> Link Group, set the name and set the gateway previously configured.

  1. Go to Link Policy, set the ‘Ingress Interface’, and associate the ‘Link Group’ that was configured.
