Description This article describes the process of choosing and deleting ranges of policies using the GUI.
Scope FortiOS.
Solution

The following procedures outline how to delete certain policies using FortiGate's GUI:

 

Step 1: Choose Multiple Policies.

  • Launch the FortiGate graphical user interface and go to the 'Firewall Policy' section under 'Policy & Object'.
  • Keep the keyboard's 'ctrl' button pressed.
  • Select the desired policy to remove by selecting it.
  • Holding down 'ctrl', select more policies to choose a range. Now, all of the policies in this range should be highlighted.

Step 2: 'Right-Click' and Delete.

  • After choosing the desired policies, 'right-click' on any of the policies that are highlighted.
  • There will be a context menu shown. Choose the 'Delete policy' option from this menu.
  • As an alternative, it is possible to select the 'Delete' option that is displayed at the top of the page.

 

Step 3: Confirmation Prompt.

  • Upon selecting 'Delete policy', a prompt for confirmation will show up.
  • The prompt includes the question 'Are you sure you want to delete the selected policies?' for confirmation.


Examine the chosen policies to make sure they are accurate.

  • Select 'OK' to validate the removal.
  • The FortiGate configuration will now be deleted of the chosen range of policies.

Step 4: Verification.

To make sure the deleted policies have been removed, go to the 'Policy & Object' -> 'Firewall Policy' section.

 

Note: This action cannot be carried out through the CLI, as only one policy can be deleted at a time.

 

CLI Syntax:

 

config firewall policy
(policy) # delete <ID>  -> Only one Policy ID can be called here.
policyid Policy ID (0 - 4294967294).
