Scenario:
This example is given with Office365/MS Exchange email account and it fails while configuring it on Microsoft Outlook with no knowledgeable information about its manual configuration. Internet access is secured with a FortiGate.
Demo:
While configuring the bestngfw@outlook.com account on MS Outlook it is hard to collect enough information to troubleshoot, so it is possible to use this portal:
https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/
It will show the whole process, where it fails, and why.
Expanding the first failed step will show this detail:
If expanding more, the reason will show up for the failure (Bad Password):
It could be the firewall blocking some network flows. This tool will show which flow is blocked.
It could also be a bad certificate or a bad DNS record, no matter the issue, the tool will show the problem. |
