Description

The article describes the features not supported in Transparent Mode in FortiGate.

Scope

FortiGate.

Solution

Transparent Mode does not support the following features:

SSL-VPN.
PPTP/L2TP VPN.
DHCP servers.
Switch Interfaces.
Unicast routing/policy-based routing (PBR).
Security Fabric.
Multicast routing is not supported, but options are available to forward multicast packets.
Route-Based IPsec VPN is not supported. Only policy-based IPsec VPNs are supported for transparent mode.
The spanning tree Protocol (802.1d) is not supported, but options are available to forward BPDUs.
In transparent mode, the maximum number of interfaces per VDOM is 254. This value includes both physical and virtual interfaces.
