Description

This article describes how to troubleshoot when the FortiGate Date is correct, but the time is displaying as 00:00:00.

Scope FortiGate.
Solution

The time and date for the display and the database are stored in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and are adjusted based on the time zone setting in your browser. 

 

Date and time are shown and exported as mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss AM or PM and time zone.

Below is an example of how the time stamp for a record could be at Dashboard status, as well as on the forward traffic logs, security event logs, etc.

In some cases, the FortiGate date is showing correctly, but sometimes the date is showing as 00:00:00.

Below are some tips on how to troubleshoot this issue:

 

  1. Check if the device is able to sync with FortiGuard NTP server and also with the local NTP server: Technical Tip: Troubleshoot NTP synchronization issue.

  2. Check on CLI with the below commands if it is indeed reflecting properly the right time/date :
    execute time
    execute date

  3. Check which browser is used to access FortiGate GUI.

The following table lists FortiOS7.4.0 product integration and support information:

 

Web browsers :

  • Microsoft Edge 112.
  • Mozilla Firefox version 113.
  • Google Chrome version 113.

Other browser versions have not been tested, but may fully function. Other web browsers may function correctly but are not supported by Fortinet.
