The following steps explain how to make FortiClient software bring up an IPSec tunnel upon boot up. This assumes that the IPSec tunnel is already configured and working correctly to a FortiGate unit or another VPN device.

Once this is done, you can complete the following basic steps for any version of FortiClient software.
  • Create a .bat file and put the file in the startup folder. Add the following line to this batch file:

start /B c:\"Program Files"\Fortinet\FortiClient\ipsec -k -b <tunnel name>

  • To stop the tunnel, use this command at a command prompt:

c:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\ipsec quit
