Description

This article describes how to restore FortiMail Firmware and configuration after an RMA.

Scope FortiMail hardware models.
Solution

To restore the Firmware:

  1. Download the Firmware image that is suitable for the FortiMail instance and add it to the TFTP server root folder.
  2. Set up the PC/laptop IP to be in the default subnet for FortiMail (for example: 192.168.1.x Mask 255.255.255.0).
  3. Connect the console port of FortiMail to the serial port of the PC/ Laptop in order to access the CLI. See the Local console connection and initial configuration section of the FortiMail Connecting to the CLI guide for more information.
  4. Log in through the CLI with the default details:
    Username: 'admin'
    Password: '' (intentionally blank)
  5. Run the show system interface command to get the management port of FortiMail ('Port1').

  1. To gain access through the GUI, connect the laptop NIC to port1 on FortiMail with an RJ45 cable.
  2. Browse to https://192.168.1.99 and enter the username and password. If the admin account’s password was not changed before, use the default username 'admin' and leave the password field blank.

See the documentation for more information about connecting to the GUI.
