Description

This article describes that the Guest admin account is no longer able to see the user password in the GUI, despite having correct credentials.
The Password field for the user shows 'ENC XXXX' instead of displaying the password in clear text, to be shared with the guests.

This behavior occurs after the upgrade to v7.0.14 or v7.2.7.

Scope

FortiGate v7.0.14, v7.2.7.

Solution

Currently, this behavior is being investigated by Engineering under Report ID 1000108.

The only known workarounds:

  • Change the password generation method to 'Specify' so the guest admin can provide the custom password for each user.
  • Use a super-admin account to see the passwords (or, per community user contribution, elevated admin with access to Users & Devices).

The behavior is scheduled to be fixed in the upcoming versions 7.0.15 and 7.2.8
